God told us not to lay up treasures on earth because He knew that it wouldn’t last.  He said that the moths and rust would consume it, and thieves would break in and steal.  How did He know that?  That is exactly what happens and if you are not expecting it, you can become quite frustrated.

Thieves will break in and steal, so if your brand new Mercedes is stolen, don’t worry about it.  You can get another one.  Better to have independent thieves get it from you than to have the government take it away from you.

At least the thieves have to work to get it.  Obama will just tax it right away from you.   At least the thieves would enjoy the fruits of their labor.   Obama would try to redistribute it.  At least the thieves would make money from the theft, while Obama will lose money paying for the redistribution.  Let the thieves take it!  You were tired of the color anyway.

Enjoy your material rewards here on earth while you still have them, but remember that it is all temporary.  Your real treasure is in heaven.  If you want to collect something, cultivate friendships.  Friends are treasures worth storing up here on Earth.  Enjoy life, make it an adventure and keep charging!!   Scott Alexander
