Write Your Own Motivational Book!

Back when I was 23 years old, I was depressed from losing all my money in a failed business venture.   I was discouraged, but not defeated.  I knew that I needed to get up off the ground, try again and keep persisting.  I knew that I needed to have thick skin and not let past failures keep me wallowing in self pity.  I knew that I needed to take action in a massive way.  I knew that I needed to be a Rhino!

In 30 days, I wrote the book that I needed to read: “Rhinoceros Success”.

No one knows what is going to get your pistons pumping except you.  Write your own motivational book!  You don’t have to worry about proper sentences, spelling or punctuation.  Just get it written!!

Since meeting so many Rhinos on Facebook and hearing some of your stories, I am constantly amazed at what some of you have been through, what you have accomplished and how you have maintained your positive attitudes despite tremendous hardships.

Write down these stories and the lessons you have learned from them.  Record your past feelings of desperation and how you picked yourself up.  Put together a chapter on where you are heading.  Think about all that you have done, the people you have touched,  how your faith in God has been tried and tested, the times you cried, the times you laughed and all the love that you have won and lost.  You are the sum total of all the experiences that you have had – good, bad and disgusting.  It’s all you.  It’s all good.

Do not let motivational gold go to waste!  Remember, the light at the end of the tunnel may be you!  I officially declare you a motivational author –  WRITE!!!  Keep charging and that will provide all the material you need for future books.  Never let an adventure go to waste!!!  Can’t wait to read your story.  Make it AMAZING!!!   Scott Alexander

I’m not sure “Rhino” and “Retreat” go together, but over all a good idea!

it is amazing and a great song pick for a rhino fellowship get togather!!! i like how dexter picked up the word retreat, not going with a rhino attitude, so lets call it a fellowship?
in the beginning of my tunnel experience i wrote alot of stuff in a journal, it was all the pain stuff, the stuff i need to defeat… the stuff that wasnt making sense… took a while to clearly see the light and grab the understanding… and somewhere along the way found a book that made sense to what i needed to do, rhino sucess, but i couldnt put that concept in practice, until i found the the pilot, the light, lol the pilot light, and asked him to show me the way… Jesus is the truely the LEADER, and scott your the president after all : <) cant wait for a big get to gether … what a blast !!!!!! love u brother .. I have no issue with retreat, dont think of it as falling or bounding back. Fellowship sounds too faith based and one sided. While I also thin retreat goes along with many a church function, it just haas a ring to it in my opinion and it was spontaneous not a contrived event. It just kinda happened, so my vote for what little it is worth is retreat. But it could be called ham sandwich and if got a group of rhinos together , good things will come from it.

I totally agree, Reese. Rhino Retreat was spontaneous. LOVE that quote from MacArthur! Gonna have to write a post using that concept.

Scott, what a great post. That’s what I love most about Rhinoceros Success, it’s a simple guide book for a simple problem. Do I want to be successful or mediocre? After reading countless books on this or that ways to be successful, I realized that it doesn’t need to be confusing or complicated. It’s as simple as keeping your horn straight and always charging forward! I recently applied that principle to running a marathon, and did a podcast on the subject http://www.mgsuccess.com/blog/?p=206 Life is to be experienced. As a Rhino, life is experienced full speed ahead.

    Scott

You made it to my blog roll of honor within minutes of starting on your book “Advanced Rhinocerology”. Though I would like to think otherwise I unfortunately happen to suffer from severe bovine tendencies.

Your book is massively motivational and as refreshing as a bucket of cold water.Once I started reading your book I had a desire to know more about you and a Google search landed me here.

Since you are alive and kicking, why are your books so darn hard to find. Why aren’t you publishing more?

Naveen, I am working on a new book which will be published this coming June, 2011. Thanks for asking! Usually, those with “severe bovine tendencies” aren’t interested in finding any more rhino books! Keep charging!!!

You are so right Scott! About ten years ago you encouraged me to write, it was during a phone conversation. I am finally working on it now, and I feel that it will be Epic! It is cathartic if nothing else…I will keep you posted, fellow unicyclist that you are, and you will get the first signed copy! Rock on Scott. No poaching from the poachers…you are in the company of hardcore Rhino’s!!!

It always amazes when you write these things in perfect timing for me. In my best Robert DeNiro/Taxi Driver voice …: Are you talking to me? Love it Scott!! Thanks for the kick in the butt!! 🙂
