Follow your heart!!
I have always been bad at math. I remember taking algebra tests in high school where they asked you stuff like, “If Paul drops his book from a building that is 98 feet high and the wind is blowing at 27 mph to the west and the book weighs 2.5 pounds, how long will it take for the book to hit the ground? In complete exasperation I would answer with a quip like, “Paul should be more careful next time.”
I took algebra twice. The second time I made it to D minus.
But I was good at English. In elementary school, I participated in Spelling Bees. I still have a report card from my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. French, who said that I would become a famous author or speaker.
What Mrs. French didn’t know was that I would become a spelling snob. I have turned into a spelling Nazi. When I go out on a date, I am more concerned with a girl’s spelling skills than kissing skills. I am not that concerned with cleavage, unless she can’t spell it. A history of drugs and wild living can be overlooked, but wanton misspelling is a definite red flag.
It all worked out. I became a speaker/author like Mrs. French predicted. I have never met anyone who dropped a book off a building and needed to know how long it would take to land. I have never gotten on a train and had to figure out when I would arrive. That stuff is already figured out for you by somebody who enjoyed algebra in high school.
Don’t worry about the stuff that you can’t do. Follow your heart. Go down the path that looks like fun. Life is too short to be involved in anything that you don’t enjoy. When you pursue your passion, you are a success. That’s how you make life an adventure. Keep charging!! Scott Alexander

Thank goodness for Mrs. French! Wonder if she is aware of how many people’s lives have been changed by your books.
Thanks, Denise! Yeah, you never know how a little encouragement might change somebody’s life!!
Wow, I love that dream scape of a Rhino! Great point too Scott!
Let’s all charge hard at what we love!
Dexter
I’m charging right beside you, Dexter!
People below would have approximately 2.5 seconds to dodge the falling book, which would be traveling at about 54 mph at the time of impact. See, math can be usephul!
Ben, I laughed out loud at your comment ! Too funny. What happens to the person who is good at math as well as spelling. After all, Math people have to know how to spell hypotenuse, asymptote, and Pythagorean theorem. We are most likely really weird. Yep, that’s me. Not surprised, Scott, that you were not good at Math. Even tho I have never met you, following you on facebook as given me a glimpse of your brain, very right.. and I am very left brained. Geez, if we ever got together, we would have a full brain ! hum… that’s sounds interesting.
