Everybody has had the occasion to get in their car and find their battery dead.  Usually the lights were left on, and after a jump the car starts up again and the battery quickly recharges.  But, sometimes the jump doesn’t help.  Putting the battery on a charger does no good either.  The battery is dead.  Or, as the Munchkins would say, it is “morally, ethically, spiritually, physically, positively, and absolutely dead.”

Sometimes our motivational batteries go dead.  Usually all we need is a little encouragement from a rhino friend.  High energy music works too.  Read an inspiring book.  Take a hot bath (a mudbath, of course). We all have our little tricks for recharging.

What happens, though, when our soul battery is Munchkin style dead?  What do we do when we can no longer see our way?  How do we move on when we are that exhausted?

There is no better way than to go to God.  “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:6)    “I have come as light into the world, that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.”  (John 12:46)

You think that a little encouragement from a friend is helpful?  Wait until God encourages you!!!  “For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”  (Chronicles 16:9)  Now we are talking about putting in a Supernatural DieHard battery!!

It doesn’t end there!  He said that He is the bread of life and if you come to Him, you will not hunger or thirst.   He said that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16). All things work together for good, for those that love the Lord.

Don’t be stranded on the side of life’s highways.  Jesus is your AAA and He has already paid your membership fee.  Shock your neighbors -  acknowledge Him!  With God, all things are possible!  He is knocking on your door.  If you hear His voice and open the door, He will come in and dine with you.  You won’t have to ever worry about a dead battery again, because “those who wait upon the Lord will mount up with wings like eagles…”  Or, with the horns of a rhinoceros!!  Keep charging!!!   Scott Alexander
